Privacy and Security

In addition to the general adidas Group Privacy policy, which can be found here, the following policy applies to shop.adidas.co.uk: We will use the information we have gathered about you only to provide a convenient shopping experience for you in the adidas Online Store and to fill your orders, except in those cases where you have also registered to have one or more newsletters sent to you.

What information do we collect and how do we use it?

To register with the adidas Online Store, you only need to enter your e-mail address, a password and your date of birth. We verify the date of birth in order to prevent children under the age of 14 from registering with the adidas Online Store. You will then receive an e-mail containing a link which you must click on to confirm your adidas Online Store registration.

In order to process your order, we need your first name, your last name, your e-mail address, your billing address and – if different from the billing address – your mailing address and, optionally, your telephone number, as well as the user name and password you use to log in to our adidas Online Store. We need your e-mail address and (optionally) telephone number so that we may contact you if we have questions or information for you regarding your order. In addition, if you are paying with a credit card, we need to know the credit card type, number and expiration date.

We will use your personal data only for purposes relating to your order; e.g., to notify you regarding the status of your order or delivery and for internal customer analyses. We will use your e-mail address to send you our newsletter – if you have signed up for it – and to send notifications about current adidas Online Store offers, services, special offers and promotions. If you do not (or no longer) wish to receive these notifications or the newsletter, you can immediately unsubscribe from them at any time, and at no cost, by clicking on a link in the corresponding e-mail. You may revoke your consent for the future usage of your data, as referred to here, at any time.

Disclosure of your personal data to third parties

One of our core principles states that your data shall be treated with absolute confidentiality and not disclosed to third parties. To complete your order, we work with service providers to whom we provide certain data (last name, first name, street address). Naturally, steps are taken to ensure that the confidentiality of your data is strictly protected.

These service providers include companies that deliver packages (DHL and UPS) and handle payment transactions (credit-card purchases and purchases on account). Our partner for handling credit-card transactions is BFS finance Muenster GmbH, Hoeltenweg 33, D-48155 Muenster.

In order to expedite the processing of your order, we use an outside service provider (infoRate System: BFS risk management GmbH, Guetersloher Str. 123, 33415 Verl) to check the completeness and accuracy of your address. In order to protect all of our customers, no merchandise will be delivered if the address cannot be confirmed.

Our service providers are obliged to use the data only for the purposes indicated above and not to disclose such data to third parties under any circumstances.

How do we protect your data?

We use the latest security standard, 256-bit Secure Socket Layers (SSL), on all adidas Online Store web pages on which you enter personal data (My Account, Shopping Cart, Newsletter registration). Your data are encoded directly during the transmission process. You can recognize Internet sites which encode data for transmission in this manner by the fact that the website’s address begins with https:// .

All information subject to data protection (such as credit card number, bank routing code, name and address) is stored in a protected database, in some cases in an encoded format.

Cookies are small units of information that we need in order to identify you as a user and to make your shopping experience go as smoothly as possible during your Online visit to the adidas Online Store.

The so-called Session IDs are stored by your browser on the hard disk only during the current session, require only minimal storage space and will not have any negative impact on your computer.

Cookies do not contain any specific personal data.

Will adidas use this information for some other purpose in the future?

adidas will not make your personal data available to third parties unless you have given us your prior consent to do so. You may inspect and change your personal data at any time. You may, at any time, revoke your consent to further use of your data. In that case, we will delete your personal data. This will not affect data used for invoicing and bookkeeping purposes.

adidas’ tips – what you can do to enhance your own security

  • Please do not ever give your password to others
  • Use a secure password, preferably a combination of letters and numbers
  • Get into the habit of changing your password on a regular basis
  • Make sure that you are using a secure, SSL-capable browser to surf the Internet
  • If you use a public computer (in an Internet cafe) or share a computer with others (e.g., at the office), we recommend that you log out of our site after you end your Internet session, in order to prevent unauthorized persons from shopping at our Internet store under your name.
To do this, navigate to “My Account” and click on “log out”.
